Sustainability Assessment
APCL provides Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and services offered in order to understand and evaluate the magnitude and significance of the potential environmental/ energy/ social/ economic impact of the product/processes systems, incorporating the developed materials, manufacturing methods, energy consumption, maintenance, transportation and the respective end of life processes, as well as determine the environmental/ energy/ social/ economic performance of the suggested processes.
APCL LCA experts use a multicriteria and holistic approach supported by professional LCA tools and methodologies, based on the guidelines of ISO 14040 and 14044 standards. LCA outcomes assist in developing competitive and sustainable innovative products and processes. In addition, LCA strengthens the propositions of circular economy and the other way around. The outcomes of LCA studies indicate the potential impact of the developed processes and materials at endpoint impact categories (e.g. human health, natural environment, natural resource availability etc), as well as at midpoint impact categories (such as climate change, ozone depletion, human toxicity etc) from cradle-to-grave and/or cradle-to-cradle system boundaries.
LCA activities include:
- Definition of Goal & Scope of LCA.
- Life Cycle Inventory Analysis,
- Impact Assessment, Interpretation of Results, Comparison with Respective Conventional Results
- Energy LCA (ELCA)
- Cost LCA Evaluations (LCCA) and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA)
- Social LCA Evaluations (LCSA)
